Hicham Chajai (calligrapher and designer of the CD-ROM)

Hicham Chajai was born in France, though his family's roots lie in Morocco. In 1997, while studying engineering in Paris, he had the opportunity to take a course in Calligraphy from the well-known Syrian Master Frédéric Fattal, who first taught him the demanding techniques of the Diwani and Koufi styles of calligraphy. His creativity and passion for this art have led Hicham Chajai to develop his own form of expression. His studies and work have taken him to many countries, including Al-Andaluz, Egypt, Turkey, Lebanon, Iran, Dubai, Qatar, and, of course, Morocco.

Mr. Chajai's double culture and the on-going exchange of knowledge and inspiration he has cultivated with local artists of all these regions have nurtured his imagination and reinforced his desire to build bridges between cultures. He regularly shares his experience by organizing exhibitions and workshops that offer excellent occasions for such exchanges.

Through this CD-ROM, Mr. Chajai is pleased to be able to reach out and share his passion and knowledge with an even larger audience. He offers an innovative pedagogic approach adapted for all levels. Learning is facilitated by the combination of short movies and simplified geometric sketches. The objective is to provide you with the skills and the autonomy to be creating your own artistic calligraphy in a short time.
Good luck.
